The session begins with the fight with “The Devil” (Sage Edit: Actually, I’m not sure if we can say whether that was a Demon or Devil illusion. None of us have witnessed or read of such a fearsome planar being before.) which, having surprised us, shoots a fireball. Somehow, we didn’t know that this was an illusion and Bull made sure we took extra damage (my notes said so!). Laren shoots it but it is still an illusion. The fireballs are real (Sage Edit: Stupid Shadoweave.). This causes Prae to flee, but he valiantly battles against his phobia to aid Sage with healin magic. K’larr does well in dodging the vicious flames—it belays his normal susceptibility to villainous spells (Sage Edit: Seriously, honey. It’s ridiculous how often you get hurt). The illusion turned out to be two pitiful pig demons in a cell, bombarding us with the non-illusory fireballs.
We beat them. A lot.
They were guarding the big prisoner – “Dovehand” of the falcon tribe. We let him go against Char’s wishes. Despite the fact that he is 16 years old(!!!) and says he can totally hide, the others feel he is competent to leave. (Sage Edit: Tymora implied it was fine. Good enough for me. Besides, with his parentage, he probably has more power in his little finger than most adventurers in their entire lives).
We examine the room and realize it has torture implements. We rest to recover before carrying on.
Down the hall we encounter a pain symbol, which gets K’larr. Sage destroys it from a distance.
We then examine the bedroom of Shadow basilisks. They get K’larr. While Bull suggests that they may have an antidote in the room, we have to bust out the big magic to get him back. (Sage Edit: Well, we did search the room thoroughly for for an antidote or anything else that might have helped. Instead, we found poison.)
We go to the last location, the chapel. The Dreadwraith is there with some skeles. Gosh, we love to bash skeles.
We arduously fight it and the hidden priest. Sage charges the Dread Wraith after it gets K’larr. It leaves fighting her to attack Bull, Laran, and myself. Sage remains, trying to detect magic to find the hidden priest. K’larr and numerous things that Prae summon (Sage Edit: I found the owlbears particularly impressive) mix it up with the Priest, the rest of us fight that cursed Dread Wraith, but it is hard to hit and steals some health from all of us. The hidden priest also aids the Dread Wraith with healing. We eventually get lucky (Sage Edit: Of course. Tymora aids those who help themselves with good fortune) and kill it, Skull Crusher getting the killing blow.
